Canon PowerShot A3400 IS Review, Sample Images, Photos, Camera Testing in NYC

The new Canon PowerShot A3400 IS is the middle member of the new upper-range Canon A series family sandwiched between the Canon PowerShot A4000 IS and Canon PowerShot A2400 IS. The three cameras share many similar features including a 16 megapixel image senor, a 28mm wide-angle lens, optical image stabilizer, 720p HD video capture, a dedicated movie button, Intelligent IS, a help button, various scene modes and Smart AUTO mode. Although their similarities are vast, the PowerShot A3400 IS differences include its less desirable feature - the 5x optical zoom (whereas the A4000 IS comes with an 8x optical zoom) while it's claim to fame is it's bright 3.0" wide touch panel LCD screen.

 Below is a sample image taken with the new PowerShot A3400 IS on Intelligent Auto (iA) Mode.

Although 5x optical zoom doesn't sound like a large distance, the sample image below was taken standing from the same position on Intelligent Auto (iA) mode. The image to the left is using no optical zoom and the image on the right is using full 5x optical zoom. The image quality remains clear and the distance is still rather impressive.
