Olympus SH-50 Sample Images - All Star Game Parade

Olympus SH-50 Sample Images

Major League Baseball's All Star Game Parade down 42nd Street was the perfect excuse to take the new Olympus SH-50 out to get some sample photos.
The Olympus SH-50 with its 24x zoom is still a reasonably-sized point and shoot.
The SH-50 features a 16 megapixel BSI CMOS Sensor and TruePic VI iHS Image Processor, and has a great 24x Optical Zoom with a 35mm equivalent focal range from 25mm to 600mm all in a compact Point and Shoot body.  Shooting at its further focal ranges and set in Sports mode with high speed image capture, the SH-50 was the perfect camera for the parade.
The SH-50 offers Auto and Scene Modes as well as Program and Full Manual control.
Here are some sample pics from the parade:

Canon PowerShot A810 Low Light Sample Images

Canon PowerShot A810 Low Light Sample Images

H and B Digital will soon be launching a new website that will profile the low light capacities of various digital cameras.  We will be using a colorful studio comparison setup that we constructed in a relatively dark basement room to compare results from cameras when shooting at low, medium and higher ISO's.  While we at some point may elect to go with a brighter setup, this is what we've got for now.

Here are several sample images taken with the Canon PowerShot A810.  The A810 performs quite nicely through ISO 200 to 400, but degrades quickly thereafter.  But for the price ($89.99!), this is a solid little performer!

See below for photo parameters.  A comparison to the stellar Canon PowerShot GX1 (a $700 camera with a much larger sensor) at ISO 1600 is also provided below.

Canon PowerShot A810 at ISO 100, f/5 at 1/2 sec., cropped 25% (click here to view full size version).
Canon PowerShot A810 at ISO 200, f/5 at 1/5 sec., cropped 25% (click here to view full size version).
Canon PowerShot A810 at ISO 400, f/5 at 1/10 sec., cropped 25% (click here to view full size version).

Canon PowerShot A810 at ISO 800, f/5 at 1/20 sec., cropped 25% (click on here to view full size version).
Canon PowerShot A810 at ISO 1600, f/5 at 1/40 sec., cropped 25% (click here to view full size version).

G1X Comparison (it's not a fair fight):

Canon PowerShot G1X at 1600 ISO, f/5.6 at 1/30 sec.

Parameters:  All photos were shot on a tripod at a 35mm equivalent of approximately 50mm and at an aperture of f/5.  We then cropped the images by 25% and reduced the image size to 16 inches wide by approximately 10 inches high, maintaining a native resolution of 180 pixels / inch.

Sigma 15-30mm f3.5-4.5 DG Sample Images

Sigma 15-30mm f3.5-4.5 DG Sample Images

Below are several sample images taken with the Sigma 15-30mm f/3.5-4.5 DG super-wide angle lens mounted on a Canon 5D Mark III.

This isn't a widely available lens, but we have it at H and B Digital for $699.99!  Call us at (212) 354-1341 for special pricing.

Performance & Handling

This fun lens is a great street shooter and landscape lens that catches very wide angle shots without a fisheye effect.  The images are quite sharp, with excellent detail and very good color representation and contrast.

Focusing is quick, although there isn't much of a range necessary at this wide angle.  There is some noise with focusing, but it is indistinguishable to anyone other than the shooter.  A lens hood is built in to protect the bulb-like front element, and the cap is actually a two-piece cap that offers further protection.

Samples

Here are some sample photos taken around Times Square on a hot June afternoon.  All photos were shot as JPEG and were subsequently reduced in file size but without retouching.  Photo info is stated in each caption.
Sigma 15-30mm f/3.5-4.5 DG:  1/60 sec. at f/8.0, ISO 200, at 15mm.
Sigma 15-30mm f/3.5-4.5 DG:  1/400 sec. at f/6.3, ISO 200, at 30mm.
Sigma 15-30mm f/3.5-4.5 DG:  1/400 sec. at f/6.3, ISO 200, at 15mm.
Sigma 15-30mm f/3.5-4.5 DG:  1/30 sec. at f/10.0, ISO 200, at 15mm.  This lens is great as a street shooter, and this is a particularly cool effect that is possible at its widest angles:  similar to a pan shot, walk and shoot forward and you'll get lots of motion at the edges!
Sigma 15-30mm f/3.5-4.5 DG:  1/200 sec. at f/10.0, ISO 200, at 15mm.  This shows the lens at its widest angle.
Sigma 15-30mm f/3.5-4.5 DG: 1/200 sec. at f/10.0, ISO 200, at 30mm.  This shows the lens at 30mm.
Sigma 15-30mm f/3.5-4.5 DG: 1/250 sec. at f/6.3, ISO 200, at 15mm.  Of course there are distortions, but with a lens this wide, that's part of the fun!
